The Surrey School District passed a unanimous motion tonight:
To support the request from the Fraser Health Authority that Port Metro Vancouver conduct an independent Comprehensive Health Impact Assessment of the proposed Fraser Surrey Docks coal handling proposal prior to making a decision on the project.
They now join the likes of the following school districts/boards: Vancouver, Burnaby, Delta, and Richmond, as well as the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation. This show of support for our Chief Medical Health Officers is important as there are 100+ schools along the coal corridor and the impacts of coal dust and diesel particulates to the population of these schools must be looked at carefully before a decision is made on the Fraser Surrey Docks proposal.
